Lodging and Included Services
|
Lodging:
All lodging is in the form of a tent. When "getting close to nature" is the point, there is nothing like a tent! Far from the old musty tents you might remember, these tents sleep 1 to 3 and feature multiple windows and some even with a skylight for watching the celestial show in the dark Highlands skies! A comfortable sleeping bag and sleeping pad are provided as are flashlights to help you get around at night.
SPECIAL NOTE: "Bathroom" options are best described as "primitive" but nonetheless, an important part of being close to nature! A waterless composting toilet, a privy, and the great outdoors are the only "bathroom" options available. All practices will strictly follow Leave No Trace guidelines.

Transportation:
In keeping with our commitment to responsible sustainable ecotourism, we insist you utilize public transportation to get here thus lightening the burden on the roadways and the air. While here, all transporation will provided by Highlands eco tours (sorry, no hybrid yet!). Our adventures are designed to require as little use of vehichles as possible and in most cases, involve no more than a total of 20 miles.

Food:
A very important part of any backpacking experience is cooking and eating on the trail! All food is included on all adventures. Typically, at least one meal is taken at an area restuarant. The remaining meals are designed for trail use and consist of fresh, all natural and organic ingredients whenever possible. Just because you're out in the woods doesn't mean you have to give up good food! You'll find these trail gourmet entrees delicious and easy to prepare. All cooking and eating gear are provided as well as a helping hand when you need it! A wide range of diets can be accomodated including an all organic option.
